Development Director


The Development Director is responsible for bringing money and members to Winter Wildlands Alliance and for promoting its mission, work and accomplishments. The Development Director implements all fundraising and membership programs including foundation funding, corporate partnerships, major donor programs, membership fundraising, annual appeals, and special events. The Development Director is responsible for promoting the SnowSchool program to the outdoor industry and recreation communities and raising funds through grants, corporate partnerships and individual contributions to ensure the SnowSchool program has the resources to be successful. Internships with Winter Wildlands Alliance


As a small nonprofit, interns are valued immensely and immersed in real, quality projects, resulting in excellent on-the-job experiences. For a student seeking experience in the outdoor industry or conservation field, or for skiers or snowshoers looking for an effective way to use their extra time, Winter Wildlands is the place to be. Length and weekly hours for all internships is negotiable; typically, stipends are available.

Outreach and Communications Intern
Winter Wildlands Alliance is currently seeking an outgoing and hard working candidate looking for experience in conservation and non-motorized recreation advocacy by working on WWA’s signature event, the Backcountry Film Festival. Intern will assist in organizing, coordinating and marketing WWA’s annual Backcountry Film Festival event as well as represent WWA at community outreach events. The intern will help secure sponsorships, work with filmmakers, distribute marketing materials, network with online partners, arrange event details and perform other related duties for the Backcountry Film Festival. Scientific Research Intern
Intern is responsible for researching scientific issues related to the effects snowmobiles have on the natural environment and a quality human-powered recreation experience. Specifics include writing abstracts on studies that address snowmobile impacts on wildlife, air, and snow, plus problems associated with noise emissions. Intern will also write fact sheets (briefings) on these studies, and prepare materials for distribution via the organization's Web site. Qualified candidate has experience in research and excellent writing skills.
