Every two years, Winter Wildlands Alliance organizes a grassroots advocacy conference, and this year it´s in Golden, Colorado. This is a great opportunity for individuals and groups involved in promoting quiet recreation on public lands to gather to hear the latest on policy issues, network with fellow quiet users and meet public lands managers. Land managers from the U.S. Forest Service, BLM and National Park Service, along with representatives from the Environmental Protection Agency will be participating as speakers and panelists, along with quiet recreation advocates.
The conference theme in 2008 is "Advocacy in a Climate of Change", which recognizes the implementation of existing policies such as the Travel Management Rule; the changing political climate as we elect a new administration; and the changing climate itself. It is an exciting and dynamic policy environment, and the Conference aims to get participants up-to-date, well-connected and energized for the work ahead.
