BOISE, ID The nonprofit Winter Wildlands Alliance (WWA) today announced a three-year partnership with Atlas Snow-Shoe Company (Atlas) to join efforts in order to preserve and protect the solitude of the snowshoeing experience.
"With this partnership, Atlas is really taking a leadership role in supporting the snowshoeing community," said WWA Executive Director Sally Grimes. "Their initiative will help us protect backcountry areas across the nation for human-powered recreation."
The partnership involves direct support of WWA by Atlas, along with promotional help, membership recruitment assistance, and donations of product. Atlas will also make available deeply discounted snowshoes for WWA's SnowSchool program.
SnowSchool is a national program devoted to providing on-snow winter ecology field trips to elementary schools across the country. The program provides snowshoes, a curriculum, and a structure to schools, and then links the schools with a nearby public land manager. Currently SnowSchool serves nearly 30,000 children per year at 25 sites across the nation.
Atlas Marketing Programs Manager Macy Allatt added, "We are extremely excited and proud to work with Winter Wildlands, particularly on the SnowSchool program. By partnering together, we are able to inspire a new generation of outdoor recreationists, promote education, and help create a safer and more serene backcountry for generations to come."
